In the early 1960's David Gillies Hostel was established for men at 40 Charlotte Street and this building was demolished about 1970 to make way for the present Hostel and Nursing Home known as "Pittwood 2" which was officially opened in 1973.

Two further Hostels were built on the site in 1976.

During 2001 major upgrading was completed which connected four of the buildings which made the site safer and more secure for residents and staff.
